I am seeking info about Elizabeth Jaynes (Janes), born in Racine 21 Dec. 1848 to Julia (Collins) and Isaac Jaynes.

She was married to J. W. Putnam of NY (?) and she returned with him to Racine in the late '80s where she taught music near Milwaukee. I believe during this time she was either divorced or widowed. In 1874 she moved to LA. She called herself Lisa Putnam/Mrs. J. W. Putnam.

She later (1889) married Gutzum Borglum who carved Mt. Rushmore. She divorced him in 1908.

She died 21 May, 1922 in Venice, CA and was, as the story goes, buried in Oconomowoc where she had family ties back in the 1870s.

I have found conflicting information on the various web sites and thought perhaps someone with access to local records might be of assistance.

Anything at all would be helpful. Census material I have.

Thanks.

Searching for a possible marriage of Daniel Culbert/Colbert in Racine ca 1852-1856; Daniel b. ca 1825 in Ireland. Possibly immigrated to Wisconsin, via Canada around 1850. Catholic. Fathered two children whom he left in the care of their maternal grandparents when he left the state after the death of his wife.

Possibly filed first papers in a Racine court. Are probate papers extant for that period? Assume you children would be subject to guardianship proceedings. Any help greatly appreciated.

Can you please tell me if it is possible to find information on a place called Adam's Tavern that operated sometime in the mid 1940's? It was owned and operated by Adam and Elizabeth Konecny who were my grandparents and was located on Mead Street.

I contacted the City of Racine to see if it was possible to get a copy of an old business, but they were not able to help me. If I could find any information on the Tavern, whether it be pictures, articles, etc. it would be a great addition to the family research that my wife and I are working on.

Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

I am trying to find a death certificate for my great grandmother, Bridget O’Boyle who died on March 6, 1937 while visiting her son Reverend John J. O’Boyle. I have not been able to find anything for her and I know she died in Racine, WI and lived in Fond due Lac.

I would also like to find any information about my great uncle John J. O’Boyle (11-28-1893 to 11-14-1942). I’d heard he had been responsible for several successful union negotiations in Racine as well as refinancing the debt of his parish, St. Rose.

If you could help me or direct me to someone who could help me find out any information about these two individuals, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm trying to find some information on a bottling plant that may have been located on Sheridan road, south of Higgins HobNob, on the lakefront. I've heard that one existed, and I'm trying to determine that it did to track the source of unique "lake glass" that my wife and I found when we used to live there 15 years ago. Here's a picture of the glass marbles. My working theory is that this is raw glass, shipped in the same form that iron ore pellets are, and that they fell into the water while being unloaded at the bottling plant...but I can't find any record of the plant. Can you help?

He came from a family in Racine. He was married to my grandmother (still living!) - Rita Marion Beland sometime in the late 20s. From the photos, the wedding was quite fancy. They had one child in 1932 - my mother, Marilynne Sue Mann - then were divorced and my mother and grandmother came out to Los Angeles where my grandmother re-married in 1935. I know Richard Mann died in 1948. After that, I know nothing else because no one says much in my family about anything. I got the impression (as a child) that he may have been a journalist or a sportswriter. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
