![]() GA State Coordinator Evans County Coordinator Hello, and welcome to the Evans County Georgia Web site. Looks like no one is wanting to adopt poor Evans County, so I am back again and hope to get some things on line for you to use. I can use all the help I can get so if you have some little tidbit, please email it to me for the website. Thanks. BTW - my name is Jan Cortez Since I don't live in Georgia, it is very hard to find the things we need. Can anyone out there donate photographs around the area, family photographs of family that have passed before us, bios, old postcards, obits, marriages, births, (deceased) etc. Anything that we look for in the way of genealogical information. I'll be happy to load your information. Evans County Georgia was created in 1914 from Tattnall and Bulloch Counties. It derived its name from Confederate General Clement A. Evans. Its county seat is located at Claxton, which is the Fruitcake Capital. So for those of you searching for records before 1914, you will have to search in the counties of Bushnell and Tattnall. I have links to both sites further down below. Don't forget to stop by and visit the HISTORICAL SOCIETY!! Most members are able to give you info because they live there. If you do ask questions, don't forget to say thank you. I'm sure they accept contributions and donations, so don't forget about that. The more we are able to help them, the more historical info they are able to fund more research for all of us. I have a very nice gentleman in Georgia who sent me some books and an old store ledger which I am going to start putting online. Lots of names in there. 05 February 2019 - I have started on the General Store Ledger and though fragile as it is, it's much easier copying. I know it's not perfect, but much better and easier to scan. 14 February 2019 - More pages added to the Brewton General Store 15 February 2019 - More pages added to the Brewton General Store
