Clarence Harper Killed in Action Contributed by: Mike Grasse
Once more we are called upon to chronicle the death of another Winneconne youth of only 21 years who has given his life in the service of his country.
According to a governmental message received Tuesday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. George Harper, their son, T-Sgt. Clarence H. Harper was killed in action Feb. 3, somewhere in Germany. Sgt. Harper was previously reported missing.
Clarence (Buddy) Harper graduated from the Winneconne High School and entered service in April 1943. He received his training in North Carolina and graduated from the Mechanical School at Keeser Field, Miss. He received his wings at Fort Meyer, Fla.
In September 1944 he went overseas and was an engineer gunner on a B-17 with the 8th air force somewhere in England.
Surviving are his parents; six sisters: Mrs. Garth Erickson, Berlin; Mrs. Wm. Wesner, Omro; Mrs. J.L. Creveire, California; Doris, Merney and Janice at home; two brothers, George Jr., Neenah, and A M-3 Water in the Navy at Corpus Christi, Texas.
