JENSEN, MRS. BERTHA L. 6332 40th Ave., Kenosha, Wis.,


Age 66, Passed away Nov. 29 in the Kenosha Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Jensen was born Nov. 21, 1889 in Racine; daughter of the late Mr. and mrs. Frederick Schroeder. She spent most of her life here moving to Kenosha in 1942. She was married to Alfred M. Jensen on Oct. 1, 1910. She was amember of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Kenosha. Surviving are her husband, Alfred; one daughter, Mrs. George W. Dinsmore Jr., Kenosha; one grandson; one brother, Fred Schroder, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Edward willias, Racine and Mrs. Ida Jensen, Norfolk, Va. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2 p.m. in the Trinity lutheran Church, Kenosha, Rev. Paul Roth officiating. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Racine. Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Home, 6019 7th Ave., Kenosha, from noon Thursday until Friday morning when the body will be removed to the church to lie in state until time of services.

EDWARD LEE PASSES AWAY


RACINE COUNTY PIONEER DIES AT DAUGHTERS HOME


With Ox Cart, He Crossed Plains in Early Days, Returning to Buy and Cultivate Splendid farm--Leaves Family--Was honored and Respected Edward lee, one of the pioneer settlers of racine county, died on saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Howarth, near Sylvania, town of yorkville, aged 84 years.

Deceased was son of Thomas and Ann (Edwardson) Lee, both of whom were natives of Lancashire, England. He was born January 26, 1827, in Lancashire, England. His early life was an eventful one, for the monotony was relieved by the experiences and oftentimes dangers of pioneer life. His chances for acquiring an education were meager, but his training in farm labor was extensive.

On the 9th of July, 1850, he was united in marriage to Miss Susanna Lee, a native of England. this union was blessed with four children and she died in 1850. He was again married in 1866, his second wife being Miss harriet Jane Parks of Buffalo, New York. Twelve children blessed this union.

With hopes of bettering his condition, Mr. Lee, in 1852, bade his wife adieu and with three yolk of oxen started for the pacific slope and reached the gold fields in September. Here he remained two years and came back with $2,000. He then purchased 160 acres of land in sauk county, where he made his home for twenty-three years. He lived in a log house and experienced the hardships of pioneer days. With rare judgement and hard work he cultivated a fine farm and put up attractive buildings. He was a self made man, beginning without a dollar and in his death a worthy and honored pioneer passes to is reward. There survives him twelve children. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock tommorrow afternoon from the house and the body will be forwarded to Merrimac, Wis., for interment.

RITES ARRANGED FOR HERMAN LEE


Funeral services for T4 Herman W. Lee, 25, Route 1, Box 248, Sturtevant, who died in Italy, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the family lot in Sylvania Cemetery. Technician Lee drowned July 23, 1944, in Italy. He was born in Sturtevant Oct. 19, 1918. He enlisted Jan. 29, 1941, in the medical corps and was sent overseas in September of 1943. Prior to enlistment he was employed by Lawrence E. Lee of Sturtevant. Surviving are his wife, Anna; mother, Mrs. Flora Riemer; four brothers, Clarence and Robert Lee and Elmer Zinke of Racine and Reuben Lee of Waterford; five sisters, Mrs. James simonson and Miss Marion Lee of Racine, Mrs. John Preston of Eau Claire, Mrs. M. Jacox of Oakland, Calif., and Miss Virginia Lee, Sturtevant. The body will arrive in Racine on Friday evening.

LEE, ROLAND E., Route 1, Stutevant, Wis.


Age 81, Passed away this morning Sept. 1, 1959, in the Hurley Convalescent Home. Mr. Lee was born in Merrimac, Wis. on Oct. 13, 1877, and had lived in Racine County nearly all his life. He had been a farmer. He was a member of the Ives Grove Methodist Church and was clerk of the Sylvania School for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Ada; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Wolfe, Kansasville, Mrs. Margaret J. Welch, Sturtevant; five sons, Rodney, Union Grove, Marshall and Elmer of Racine, Earl of Kansasville, and Donald of Sturtevant; 27 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Harriet Dederich of Racine and Mrs. Mabel Willmore, UnionGrove; one brother, Arthur Lee, Union Grove; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., in the Rohde Funeral Home, Union Grove, Rev. Harold Perry officiating. Interment will be in the Sylvania Cemetery. Friends may call at the ROHDE FUNERAL HOME, 908-11th Ave., Union Grove, Wednsday afternoon after 4 o'clock and until service time, and may give memorials to the Ives Grove Methodist Church.
